How to Update and Clean Up Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge

Updating Microsoft Edge

1. Open Microsoft Edge:

• Click on the Edge icon to open the browser.

2. Access the Menu:

• Click on the three horizontal dots (menu) in the upper right corner.

3. Check for Updates:

• Click on Settings.
• In the left-hand menu, click on About Microsoft Edge.
• Edge will automatically check for updates and install them if available.
• Once the update is complete, click Restart to apply the updates.

Cleaning Up Microsoft Edge

1. Clear Browsing Data:

• Click on the three horizontal dots (menu) and select Settings.
• Click on Privacy, search, and services.
• Under Clear browsing data, click Choose what to clear.
• Select “All time” range and only check (Browsing, Downloads, Cookies and Cache) Data Selected
• **Do not check any others or your passwords and favorites will be removed**
• Click Clear now.

2. Remove Unwanted Extensions:

• Click on the three horizontal dots (menu) and select Extensions.
• Review the list of installed extensions and click Remove for any that you no longer need.

3. Use the Edge Cleanup Tool:

• In the Settings menu, click on Privacy, search, and services.
• Scroll down to Services and click on Manage settings under Security.
• Enable Microsoft Defender SmartScreen to help protect against malicious sites and downloads.
