How to Update and Clean Up Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge
Updating Microsoft Edge
Open
Microsoft Edge:
Access
the Menu:
Check
for Updates:
Click
on Settings.
In the
left-hand menu, click on About Microsoft Edge.
Edge
will automatically check for updates and install them if available.
Once
the update is complete, click Restart to apply the
updates.
Cleaning Up Microsoft Edge
Clear
Browsing Data:
Click
on the three horizontal dots (menu) and select Settings.
Click
on Privacy, search, and services.
Under Clear
browsing data, click Choose what to clear.
Select
“All time” range and only check (Browsing, Downloads, Cookies and Cache)
Data Selected
**Do
not check any others or your passwords and favorites will be removed**
Click Clear
now.
Remove
Unwanted Extensions:
Use
the Edge Cleanup Tool:
In
the Settings menu, click on Privacy, search, and
services.
Scroll
down to Services and click on Manage settings under Security.
Enable Microsoft
Defender SmartScreen to help protect against malicious sites and
downloads.
