Remove an Invalid Email Address from Outlook Cache

Issue:

If you mistyped an email address and sent the message before you realized it was incorrect, Outlook will store the email in its cache and display it the next time you start typing the correct address. This may cause confusion and prevent messages to the incorrect address from being delivered. The below instrctions will walk you through removing the incorrect email address.

  1. Open a new email message and start typing the name of the incorrect email address.
  2. Once you see it pop up as a suggestion, you can take your mouse and hover over the invalid email address, and you will see an "X" appear to the right of the address.
  3. When the "X" appears, click on it to remove the invalid suggestion.
  1. If you are using New Outlook, a confirmation box will pop up. Click "OK"

**** Outlook Classic does not provide a confirmation box ****

  1. Once you have finished, you can go back and start typing the name again. The invalid address should have been removed, and only the valid address will appear.
